This open thimble is placed around the thumb or ring finger to protect the skin. Ideally suited for heavier sewing work, such as sewing with leather or other stiff fabrics. The small indentations on the metal surface prevent the needle from slipping when pressure is applied. Also known as a 'sewing ring'. This thimble is sizes: no.3 (13mm diameter) and no. 5 (15mm diameter).
